WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER TRUST A TDS METER
While TDS meters effectively measure the lack of minerals in your water, many of the minerals it eliminates are actually GOOD for your body – and even more important the meter doesn’t measure the BAD STUFF LEFT BEHIND like disinfection byproducts, chlorine, chloramine, fluoride and pharmaceuticals – so as many scam monitoring websites will tell you, TDS measures elimination of many minerals you don’t want to eliminate, then leaves behind the yuck you do.
So do yourself a favor and do your research – and if you are measurement obsessed use the expert recommended Chlorine colorimeter or chlorine test strips. If they’re good enough for Ivy League medical and science labs, they’re certainly good enough for us!
Will it decrease my water pressure?
No - The high output shower filter is designed to provide maximum water flow.
How often do I need to replace the filter cartridge?
We recommend changing the cartridge after 10,000 - 12,000 Gallons of use or after 6-8 months. This will ensure optimal performance of the shower filter.
Can this shower filter remove Chloramine?
The shower filter, while very effective at reducing chlorine and other harmful substances, cannot remove chloramine. If your municipal water has high levels of chloramine, it may be a good idea to use a whole-house filtration system or a similar dedicated chloramine filter.
Will this work with my existing shower head?
Yes - The shower filter uses standard ½” connections, to ensure maximum compatibility with all standard showerheads.
Can I use a TDS meter to test the water quality?
TDS meters measure the conductivity of the water, which can help identify salts or other impurities which have positive charges. However, common disinfection by-products in water, such as chlorine, iron, chloramine etc, do not impact the conductivity of the water. So they would not be picked up by a TDS meter.
So for measuring general water quality, a TDS meter is not very helpful. Instead, it would be better to use more specialized tests to test for specific chemicals or metals, such as a chlorine colorimeter.
